Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request under its own policy. We do not keep a local log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page may cause the server to receive routine technical information about the visit:
- Page-view dates and times
- Browser type and version
- Device category and operating system
- IP address assigned to the connecting device
- Referring website, when supplied
- Pages opened and approximate visit length
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure aggregate traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. Analytics providers assist with that measurement. A browser can block cookies, although some features may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected partner
- Maintaining site speed, availability, and security
- Finding and correcting technical failures
- Measuring which resources visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
This site does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It explains where Mecosta County records are held, including the sheriff, the local courts, MSP/CJIC, and the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Official public-body requests are governed by the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., while state criminal-history dissemination is governed by MCL 28.242 and 28.242a. Those laws govern public agencies, not this private site's visitor data. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules govern data submitted to those tools. Review the applicable provider policy before running a query because this policy does not control that processing.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to courts, sheriff pages, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search tools. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's policy governs. Read that policy before providing personal data.
An advertising provider may use its own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. That processing is controlled by the provider.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners receiving a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks placing or measuring ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected data. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so protection efforts cannot eliminate every risk of unauthorized access.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. A verified notice that a minor supplied data will be handled with a deletion request.
Your Data Rights
Michigan consumer protection law, including the Michigan Consumer Protection Act, MCL 445.901 et seq., may provide rights based on the facts and your place of residence. You may ask to:
- Receive a copy of personal data held about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Seek deletion of eligible data
- Decline certain forms of processing
Updates to This Policy
